Venue Needed

WordCamp Richmond needs your help finding a venue for this year. We’ve been searching around, trying to find a great venue but haven’t had much luck so far. A perfect venue for this year’s event would be one that:

  1. Can support 100-150 people
  2. Has 3 rooms — 1 big enough for the full group, 2 big enough for roughly half the group each
  3. Donated/Sponsored/Low cost
  4. Near restaurants for lunch break

Of course, we know we may not be able to find the perfect place.  So if you have suggestions that might at least match some of the above criteria, we’re open to hearing about them.

We’re hoping to have a great event this year with some tremendous speakers. I already have a commitment from a well-known WordPress Rockstar, and tentative commitments from others depending on timing. I don’t want to drop names until we have location and date confirmed, but they’ll be traveling from far away and have really helped shape WordPress into what it is today and are continuing to do so on a daily basis.

So with that all being said, we could really use your help finding a venue.  We hope to keep ticket prices to a minimum, so someone sponsoring (paying for / donating) a venue or a venue that is willing to donate their space to us on their own would be greatly appreciated.  If you want to speak with us regarding a location, please contact us right away.

WordCamp Richmond – 2010

It’s time to start thinking about WordCamp Richmond again.  We’re hoping to have some pretty exciting items to announce and present at this years WordCamp.  For the time being though we need to start getting potential speakers and topics arranged.  Sadly, last year we ended up having to turn away a few speakers due to time constraints.  This year we’re planning to do things a little bit differently.  The plan is to have to separate tracks for attendee’s so that everyone can make the most of their experience and time.

  • Admin / Content Provider Track
  • Developer / Designer Track
  • Common Track – Everyone is involved

To this end, if you have a topic you would like to present at this WordCamp, please contact us so we can see about setting up a program for participants.  We ask that you please copy / paste the below template and fill it out so we can best arrange things.  Thanks!

2009 Page

I’ve created a page as an archive of the 2009 WordCamp RVA event. I’m hoping to get the presentations together and posted on that page as well.

Stay tuned for upcoming workshops and news regarding next years event.
